TWGate,
the Taiwan Internet Gateway service, acts as the main
gate for ISPs to access the global Internet, as the National
Information Infrastructure (NII) in Taiwan is becoming
the key successful factor for Taiwan's overall development.
CHT-I (Chunghwa Telecom International Business Group)
realizes that TWGate should take up the responsibility
of establishing a high speed and high quality network
to bridge international carriers and domestic enterprises,
business and network providers. Due to customers urgent
requirements, the TWGate came to service on June 1, 1999.
It is quickly growing up and being the largest international
communication carrier in Taiwan.
CHT-I has invested and established many international
routes via several submarine cables direct to USA, Asia,
Europe, Africa, and Mainland China. Apart from that we
have fourteen satellite earth stations, therefore, TWGate
offers high capacity and high quality direct connections
to everywhere in the world. At present, we established
many links to Canada, America, Japan, Australia, Singapore,
Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, Macao, Hong Kong,
and Mainland China. Furthermore, TWGate is planned to
extend connections to more destinations in the near future.
